5th & 6th Grade
Classroom Rules/Expectations
1. Be polite, courteous, and respectful at all times.
2. Respect personal space, rights, and property of others.
3. Do not interfere with the teaching and learning of others.
4. Follow directions of your teachers and all the school
staff.
5. Come to class prepared with all supplies
and homework complete.
6. Always do your best!
We created this set of expectations as a team because we believe that children
need to work in a positive environment in order to grow educationally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. In order to
protect this environment, students who do not meet these expectations will have consequences.
Consequences:
Students consistently failing to follow school rules will receive a yellow referral slip. This slip needs to be signed by
parents and returned to school the following day. Homeroom teachers keep track of referrals. If a child receives more than
two referrals in a quarter, he/she will be expected to serve detentions the day after the referral is given. These detentions
will be served Monday through Thursday from 3:15-3:45 and Friday from 7:30-8:00. Refer to your discipline handout for more
detailed information.
Late/Incomplete
assignments:
Students who fail to complete their homework will receive a pink referral slip. This slip need
to be signed by parents and returned to school the following day. This work is expected to be completed the next day or the
student will receive a 0 for the assignment. Homeroom teachers keep track of referrals. If a child receives more than two
referrals in a quarter, he/she will be expected to serve a detention the day after the referral is given. These detentions
will be served Monday-Thursday from 3:15-3:45 and Friday from 7:30-8:00. Refer to your discipline handout for more detailed
information.
Students who
are ill have the number of days that they were absent to complete their work before it is considered to be late.
Detentions:
Detentions will be served Monday through
Thursday from 3:15-3:45 and Friday mornings from 7:30-8:00.
Field Trips:
Field trips are considered a privilege and may be
taken away from students who exhibit chronic behavior problems or late assignments. Parents and students will be made
aware of this situation before the field trip has been taken away, and students will have the opportunity to make the choice
to follow classroom rules so that their field trip is not taken away.
